Spring Newsletter ~ West Central MI Chapter, Thrivent Financial for Lutherans

Winter Sports Complex Day Exeeds Expectations. This event proved to be popular as about 250 members came out to enjoy some winter fun. The many activities available were ice skating, cross country skiiing, sledding and of course, the Luge for those willing to try it. The local Thrivent representatives provided the food and prepared it. They say there will be some changes next year as the attendance exceeded what they had planned for. We thank Ken, Tony and Marci for their support. The Lebanon Luge team generously provided the Luge training for that event. Watch for this next year and plan to take advantage of this great facility Muskegon has been blessed with.

Lebanon Lutheran's luge team was awarded a Second Place trophy for the 2010 Corporate Luge season at the Muskegon Winter Sports Complex.

Two members of the team accompanied the Northwest Lower Michigan synod to Lativa in March 2010 and slid on the Olympic track in Sigulda, Latvia, former home of  the Soviet Union Luge team.

Tax Information
Michigan Public Acts 256 and 231 of 1994 reward financial contributions to Michigan food banks with a 50% State income tax credit (half your money back!). Limits: up to a $100 credit ( for a $200 gift ) for an individual, $200 (for a $400 gift) for a married couple filing jointly, and for businesses, 5% of the business's tax liability before claiming any other credits, or $5,000, whichever is less.
