Fair Trade Coffee

Chocolates are limited to the supply on hand due to the extreme summer conditions. It is not cost effective to get them shipped until fall & cooler weather has arrived. Thank you. Coffee is still shipped regularly.

Lebanon Lutheran is proud to be able to sell Fair Trade coffee from the LWR Coffee project. Fair Trade unites you with the farmers who labor to fill your cup. That means with every sip you’re sending their children to school, making sure they have clean water, and giving them a steady source of income.

Lutheran World Relief (LWR) believes the best way we can help people is to help them help themselves. That’s why we work hand-in-hand with some of our poorest brothers and sisters to address their problems by tackling the root causes of their property.

After more than 60 years, Lutheran World Relief has a proven track record and a sparkling reputation as one of the best non-profits around. Now that’s something all of us can be proud of.

THE LUTHERAN WORLD RELIEF FAIR TRADE COFFEE PROJECT

The LWR Coffee Project ensures that more of the money you spend on coffee reaches the farmers who actually grow it. Fair Trade coffee is a simple solution that means the difference—quite literally—between surviving and not surviving for small-scale coffee farmers.

WHAT is the LWR Coffee Project?

Micah 6:8 calls us, as Christians, to do justice, love mercy and walk humbly with our God. The LWR Coffee Project helps Lutherans answer that call by improving the lives of small-scale farmers around the world.

WHY is Fair Trade important?
Proverbs 13:23 says, “A poor man's field may produce abundant food, but injustice sweeps it away.” Lutherans enjoy coffee as a regular part of their fellowship, unaware that the farmers who grew that coffee are probably struggling to make ends meet.

Tax Information
Michigan Public Acts 256 and 231 of 1994 reward financial contributions to Michigan food banks with a 50% State income tax credit (half your money back!). In addition to the State credit, your gift to a Michigan food bank should also qualify for a normal Federal income tax charitable deduction.
